Wai'anapanapa State Park
Wai'anapanapa State Park is an utter gem of a spot, a perfect manifestation of an unblemished beach. Remote, wild, and wholly removed from the thrums and rumbles of modern life, the park offers a slew of fulfilling outdoor activities: camping, shore fishing, hiking along ancient trails, and, of course, lounging serenely along the black volcanic sand. It’s worth noting that this pristine park requires reservations for out-of-towners, but is that not the sort of logistics perfect for leaving to us to assist you with?
Maui's Road to Hana is a 64.4-mile scenic drive along the northeast coast that connects Kahului to the town of Hana, featuring numerous waterfalls, lush rainforests, and stunning ocean views. It is characterized by its winding, narrow roads, many sharp turns, and countless one-lane bridges, so caution and plenty of time are required. Stops along the way may include scenic overlooks, waterfalls, and black-sand beaches.
Honokowai Beach
A stellar spot for the kids, this beach is great for anyone staying in the area who wants to enjoy a little beach time without the threat of big waves. There is a reef that creates a tiny, shallow swimming area. During low tide, there may be just enough water for kids to splash around and see the small fish. During high tide, the water in the protected area is deep enough for young kids to wade and swim. The beach isn’t huge, but it’s big enough to make it a delightful stop for families.
There’s also a park and playground as well as a coffee shop and grocery store across the street.

Haleakala National Park
With the name meaning “House of the Sun,” it’s a safe bet that Haleakala Crater might just be the best vantage point on the island for any and every sunrise and sunset. Towering over the island at 10,023 feet above sea level, this dormant volcano hosts utterly breathtaking skyscapes: As the sun peeks over the horizon to start (or end) the day, the clouds respond in kind by igniting in a dazzling array of orange, red, and yellow. For all the time that’s not sunrise or sunset, there’s the rest of the park: Some 30,000 acres of public land play host to jaw-dropping landscapes, such as Mars-like red deserts or lush waterfalls and streams.

Chow Down at a Luau
We all think we know what a luau is, but the tradition is so much richer. This cultural pillar historically was the celebration for special occasions; everything from a baby’s first birthday to honoring important people to commemorating significant events called for a luau. Polynesian dancing and cultural performances combine with delectable dishes like haupia (coconut pudding), poi (pounded taro plant root), and, of course, kalua pig (pork prepared in an underground oven) for an evening well worth celebrating.
